Product demo video script template: show one useful result

By Teleprompter Duo · Published by LION ADV INC.

A useful product demo script connects a viewer’s problem to an action they can see. Choose one task, show the product doing it, explain the result and give one relevant next step. Use the template below to plan the demonstration, then move only your spoken words into the teleprompter.

Plan the visible action before the wording.

Decide what the viewer should understand after watching. “This stand holds my phone at a useful desk angle” gives you something concrete to show. “This product changes everything” gives you a claim to explain, but no demonstration yet.

Write down the starting situation, the action and the result. If a claim cannot be shown or supported, narrow it. Do not invent a time saving, customer result or comparison to make the script sound stronger. A clear demonstration of one real task is enough to start.

This guide focuses on a presenter demonstrating a physical product or explaining one workflow to camera. For a software walkthrough, plan a separate screen capture if the viewer needs to read small interface details; Teleprompter Duo’s rear-camera recording is not a claim of built-in screen capture or picture-in-picture editing.

Fill in this product demo script template.

Use these five prompts as a planning sheet. Replace every placeholder with a fact or action you can verify for your own product. The prompts are not voice commands and should not remain in the final reader text.

  1. Viewer and task: “If you need to [specific task], here is [product name] doing that.” Name a recognizable situation rather than listing every possible audience.
  2. Starting point: “Before I change anything, notice [visible starting condition].” Show the condition you will actually change; do not manufacture a misleading comparison.
  3. Demonstration: “I [first action], then [second action].” Let the physical action or readable screen carry part of the explanation.
  4. Result and limit: “Now you can see [observable result]. Check [relevant condition] for your own setup.” Explain what the demonstration establishes and what it does not.
  5. Next step: “If that fits your needs, [one useful action].” Suggest the next relevant step, such as checking dimensions, reading setup instructions or reviewing the current plan details.

Download the English planning template. It contains placeholders to replace before rehearsal. For a ready-to-read example, use the separate text below.

Example: a fictional folding phone stand.

This is original sample copy for an imaginary stand, not a review or a claim about a real product. Use these words only if they accurately describe what your own product does. The paragraph contains spoken copy only:

“If your phone keeps sliding against the books on your desk, here is a setup to compare. This folding stand opens into a base and a support. I unfold it, place the phone on the ledge, and check that it sits securely before I let go. Here is the screen from my normal sitting position. Before choosing a stand, check your phone size, the stand’s stability, and whether the angle suits your desk.”

Download the clean English example. The example contains no camera directions or production labels. You can edit it into your own truthful wording, paste it into the app, or save your finished script as UTF-8 plain text for import.

The production plan stays separate: show the books and phone first, show the stand opening next, then show the final desk view. Those are actions to rehearse, not extra sentences to put in the teleprompter. Our script-formatting guide covers line breaks, paragraph breaks and literal cues.

Match each sentence to something the viewer can see.

Read the draft while performing the demonstration slowly. If the words describe an action that has not happened yet, shorten the sentence or allow more time for the movement. If your hands cover the important detail, change the staging before trying to speak faster.

For a physical product, rehearse the widest movement you expect to make. Check that hands, item and result stay inside the intended frame. For software, decide which exact screen state supports each sentence. Avoid narrating tiny text the viewer cannot read in the finished video.

Do not label a staged example as a measured before-and-after test. If you do compare two conditions, keep the relevant conditions consistent and explain any limitation. The point is to help the viewer judge the demonstrated task, rather than to imply a result you did not establish.

Record the explanation with your iPhone Duo setup.

Place the words near the rear recording lens and choose a reading size you can follow from your real presenting position. In Teleprompter Duo’s current implementation, you can write or paste a script, or import UTF-8 plain text. A two-column production plan should be reduced to spoken copy before you import it.

Rehearse the demonstration without recording first. Timed scrolling does not automatically wait while you pick up an object. Pause playback when needed, adjust your wording and compare timed scrolling with supported voice following if your pauses vary. Voice following requires Pro and supported on-device recognition; it does not guarantee recovery after any improvised explanation.

Rear main camera recording supports up to 4K (3840 × 2160) on supported cameras and devices. Apple also distinguishes available recording formats by iPhone model. Check the actual format offered by the app; Apple Camera options do not establish another app’s complete feature set. Good light, clear sound and useful framing still need attention.

Use the Duo teleprompter setup guide for the complete recording workflow and the portrait-versus-landscape guide when a prop needs more space. If you are still choosing an app, consult the iPhone Duo teleprompter buying guide.

Review the demonstration, not only the delivery.

On Free, Teleprompter Duo includes timed rehearsal and one completed recording, with watermarked exports. Further recordings require Pro. Prepare the demonstration before using that completed recording, and read the current Free-versus-Pro details if you need more takes. Find the product and app destination when you are ready to check your setup.
