How to trim and export a teleprompter video on iPhone Duo
To trim a Teleprompter Duo recording, open the saved take, expand Trim and edit, adjust Start and End, then use Export or Save to Photos. The trim changes the exported version while the original recording stays in the app. Prepare an export and inspect Preview export before sharing when you need to check the finished result.
This guide follows Teleprompter Duo’s saved-take workflow. It covers removing unwanted footage at the beginning and end, keeping the complete spoken message and checking the file you will send. For choosing vertical or landscape composition, use the separate recording orientation and export crop guide.
Start with the saved take, not the reading script.
After recording, review shows Saved in Library → Takes for a ready take. Open the recording you intend to finish and play it with sound. Identify where the intended message begins and where the final word ends. The script can help you remember the plan, but the recorded speech determines the correct edit.
Keep a little room around the first and last words while finding the boundaries. Listen for clipped consonants, a missing introduction or a final instruction that ends too abruptly. Remove setup time or the reach toward the stop control only after checking that you have kept the full message.
A completed recording and a saved export are different stages. A take in the app is not evidence that a copy has already been saved to Photos or sent to another app. Look for the result of the save or share action rather than assuming recording did both.
Set the trim start and end.
- Open the saved take’s review screen and expand Trim and edit.
- Under Trim your take, move the Start slider to the beginning of the portion you want to keep.
- Move End to the end of that portion. Start must stay before End.
- Play the selected range and listen to the opening and closing words again.
- Adjust either boundary if the sentence, gesture or useful pause is incomplete.
These two controls select one continuous interval. They do not provide a manual split-and-delete timeline for removing an arbitrary mistake from the middle. If the middle contains a wrong fact, trimming the edges will not correct it. Record a corrected take or use an appropriate editor for a different editing task. Additional completed recordings require Pro once the free recording allowance is used.
For a transparent example, imagine a 44-second recording with the desired message between seconds 2 and 41. Keeping that interval gives a nominal 39-second selection: 41 minus 2. This is an arithmetic example, not an app timing test or a recommended duration. With no speed or pause edits, those boundaries describe the chosen source interval; encoded playback duration can vary slightly.
Prepare and inspect the version you will share.
Tap Export to prepare the video and open the system share sheet. Choose the actual destination you need, such as saving to Files, or dismiss the sheet if you only want to inspect the prepared version first. Once an export is prepared, Preview export appears inside Trim and edit for the current settings.
Review that prepared file rather than relying only on playback of the original take. Check the first words, last words, sound, framing and any visible text. If you change trim or editing settings, prepare the export again; the previously prepared file does not establish what the revised version looks like.
The Edit captions, pace and branding panel also contains Export format. Original framing keeps the source shape; other shapes use a centered crop. Crop changes which part of the picture is visible, while trim changes which time interval is kept. Do not change both casually when diagnosing a problem. The orientation guide explains crop choices in detail.
If you use Pro caption tools, check the words and timing against the finished video after trimming. Our caption generation and review guide covers corrections and captioned export. This article’s simple trim example assumes normal playback speed and no automatic pause removal.
Choose Export or Save to Photos.
Export opens the system share sheet for the prepared file. Save to Photos requests permission to add a video to your photo library and saves the current exported version there. If Photos access is off, the app points you toward Export so you can save to Files instead.
Wait for the save confirmation, then open the copy in its destination and play it. Selecting a share destination is not the same as confirming a social platform has published your post. Website or social publishing is a separate action outside this app’s trim workflow.
The app can ask whether to save another copy when the same version was already saved to Photos. If you see duplicates, compare their content and edit settings before deciding which file to use. Do not delete your only usable original while checking versions.
Free exports include a Teleprompter Duo watermark. Trimming does not remove that watermark or reset the allowance of one completed free recording. Pro removes the export watermark and enables additional recordings; see the current Free and Pro feature limits. Saving the same take again is not a new camera recording.
Check the result and handle an unfinished export.
- Does the exported clip begin with the intended first words and retain the final instruction?
- Can you hear the entire message without a clipped opening or ending?
- Are the subject, hands and captions still visible in the selected framing?
- Is the watermark state what your plan permits?
- Is the correct version present in Files or Photos and playable there?
- Are you sharing that exported version rather than an older copy?
If export does not finish, read the error shown before changing settings. Confirm that the saved source still plays, the trim interval is valid and any selected Pro edits match your entitlement. The app has Cancel export while rendering; after a failure, recheck the take and settings before trying again. No single cause or guaranteed fix applies to every interrupted export.
For a new recording, follow the iPhone Duo setup guide. Rear main camera capture supports up to 4K (3840 × 2160) on supported camera/device combinations; cropping and later processing do not guarantee an identical output frame size or file size.

If you already have a video in Photos, Apple’s video editing instructions describe trimming there and keeping a separate clip with Save as New Clip. Those Photos controls are a separate workflow from Teleprompter Duo’s in-app original and export. The instructions above were checked against the app’s current implementation, not presented as a hands-on performance test.
